Series Review: The Umbrella
Academy 2 (2020)

The nation’s favorite superhero siblings are back on screen picking up a second season, rating a Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with 90%. Following the unexpected success of the first season, the show has become driven from displaying innovation and playfulness on screen. The origins of The Umbrella Academy is based on a Comic Book Series with the same recurring title by the creative masterminds of Gerard Way as the showrunner, Steve Blackman was a big fan of the comics.

We are welcomed back with its unstoppable breakthrough performances from the original casts; Vanya( Ellen Page,) Luther(Tom Hopper,) Number Five (Aidan Gallagher,) Diego(David Castaneda,) Alison(Emmy Raver-Lampman,) Ben(Justin H. Min), and Klaus (Robert Sheehan.)

A summary of the second season exploits the theme of time traveling, following another fun-filled adventure to saving the universe from preventing an apocalypse happening within 7 days. The Harvgreeves’ siblings find themselves in another upside-down reality that nobody had imagined before. Klaus running his own cult alongside Ben, Alison’s married, Vanya’s a nanny for a special needs boy, Luther’s a fighting champion, Diego’s in a mental institute and the only person trying to seem ordinary is Number Five. Here we go again.

Aside from the original cast, we are introduced with one or two new characters this season and are amazed by how easily adapted to the group the actress’ delivers.
One thing for sure is that the first 5 minutes of episode one portray that the kids’ powers have upgraded intensely, shocking the viewers and engaging in suspense. At this point, the series could be a spin-off from the Marvel Comics becoming the next generation of X-Men. The production crews also dropped 48 exact easter eggs, indicating the ‘Sparrow Academy’. It was not easy to spot watching for the first time, therefore we should deliberately pause every new scene.

To conclude, the Umbrella Academy Series is one of the best things that happened for Netflix in 2019. The narrative is full of action-packed, comedic genius that every sci-fi lover should consider to watch. It is full of theories that make you want to watch endless videos online to enrich your knowledge of the story and its connections. After that cliff-hanger entails that the real adventure was just getting started so, we should buckle up for the third installment soon.
